A blessing on the fruits of our labours

A blessing on the fruits of our labours

A few of us had a wonderful experience on Sunday. We had been invited to attend a blessing at our food growing site, the Fruitery, and were amazed to find that around 50 people and lots of kids from both the vicarage and synagogue next door had come together to bless our site in a multi faith service. It was extremely touching and very beautiful to think that one of our food growing spaces generated the energy, enthusiasm and sense of community, to have our local faith leaders organise a multi faith service attended by a mixed community. I wonder if the church and synagogue had ever actually conducted such a service before? TB was really given alot of commendation and thanks. It was the eve of Sukot in the Jewish faith, which is their harvest, and of course the Harvest Fest in Christian faith, and so the two leaders decided that the Fruitery would be the centrepoint to honour the blessings of our fruit...and of course, the fruit of our labours.
