This year Man Can has met over 1,000 primary school kids at 5 local school assemblies. He has also been on tour in Englands Lane bookshop and Budgens, followed by a 8 week Summer holiday at Swiss Cottage library. His message to encourage kids to cut down on packaging continues to be heard at Kentish Town library, where he is currently on tour! Next stop Queens Crescent and Holborn libraries!

The Transition Belsize/Hampstead Education group were recently invited to atttend the first ever Camden Green School Summit. During a very informative day, the group held informal chats with Caterlink, the Camden School Dinner provider. During these discussions, the idea was raised to pilot a meat/fish free Monday meal at selected school's during 2012...Caterlink gave the group a brief to come up with a 'fun' theme to encourage schools to join in with the pilot; an idea to 're-assure' parents that have a veg only meal one day of the week would not be seen as a 'cutting back on costs' but as advantageous to their kids - and the environment.
Final touches are being put on the first of the Education group's cob ovens to be built in our local schools. Watch out for details on the launch pizza/ bread making session to be held at Fitzjohn's school in the new year
A cob oven, built from clay (dug up in the school's ground) and sand, is a fantastic way of teaching kids about low carbon building materials, as well as provding a great outdoor learning resource.
